Destroyed in World War II, the building has been renovated and has been open to the public as a conference, event, and congress center since 2012. Ballroom – many guests and plenty of space

The ballroom is suitable for lectures and celebrations with a maximum of 480 participants. It measures 461 square meters and features French doors leading to a balcony. From the balcony, your guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the Herrenhausen Gardens. Whether for a conference or a company party, we will tailor this room precisely to your requirements.

Seminar rooms – working in small groups

In addition to the auditorium, a total of six seminar rooms are available. Each of these event spaces can accommodate approximately 120 people. Choose the room that best suits your needs. Rooftop pavilion – meetings with a unique view

The rooftop pavilion is the perfect space for special meetings. Flooded with light and offering views of the Herrenhausen Gardens, it is arguably the most exclusive meeting room in Hanover. Up to 24 people can be seated around the conference table in its 58 square meters of space. The open atmosphere, state-of-the-art technology, and the historic charm of our rooms facilitate decision-making and consensus-building.

The story

Electors and Kings

Herrenhausen Palace was the summer residence of the Hanoverian royal family in the 19th century. However, the palace's history begins much earlier. In 1636, the Duke of Calenberg had a so-called "Vorwerk" (a type of farmstead) established in Herrenhausen. From here, the royal residence of Hanover was supplied with agricultural products. The summer residence was expanded starting in 1674. In 1680, Duke Ernst August assumed power. His political ambitions required a corresponding, representative architectural "accompaniment": the construction of a palace. He himself drew up the plans in 1690. The centerpiece was a central building, flanked by four symmetrically arranged structures. Construction work came to an abrupt end with his death in 1697. In the same year, Electress Sophie initiated the expansion of the Baroque gardens, carried out by Martin Charbonnier. The palace was renovated in 1704. However, its basic features have been preserved to this day.

From 1714 onwards, the Electorate of Hanover and Great Britain were united in personal union. The princes from Hanover resided in Great Britain as kings, but often spent the summer at Herrenhausen Palace. The palace and gardens were therefore meticulously maintained. The seven-year-old

The war brought this to an abrupt end. Maintenance of the castle was reduced to a minimum until 1814, when Hanover was declared a kingdom. In 1819, the castle was redesigned in the Neoclassical style by court architect Georg Friedrich Ludwig Laves. The castle was demolished in 1943.

Completely destroyed. Only the grand staircase remained.

The “renaissance” of the castle began in 2009/2010 with the architectural competition for its reconstruction.

The new castle opened at the beginning of 2013.
